Takes The Torch From The Golden Turkey Awards

I have been a dedicated bad film backer for a prolonged time now, and always honour myself on anticipating problematic and definitely unlucky cinema to hurl my eyes at. As such, we have seen many of a films in this book, and generally am in wholehearted oncsensus with a author and his appraisals of these movies. My favorite bad film book has always been "The Golden Turkey Awards" by Harry and Michael Medved, and it still is-but usually barely. This book is positively some-more adult to date than The Turkeys, and is of a same ubiquitous ilk and demeanor.
What we adore about this book (and a Razzies in general) is a ability to skewer not usually small, considerate films like "The Creeping Terror" and "Devil Girl From Mars", though to take on hugely magisterial nonetheless unspeakably bad tripe like "Glitter", "Exorcist II: The Heretic", and "Spice World".
Truly, this is a value trove of bad cinema and has given me many good (bad) suggestions for destiny viewing, as good as assisting me devise destiny gifts for associate film lovers.
If we have any seductiveness in movies, generally if we adore a bottom of a tub so-bad-it's-good film, this book is a must.

Hilarious and informative

My prior favorite tacky film beam "Cult Flicks and Trash Pics" by a Videohound (see inventory elsewhere) has usually been superseded by Wilson's Razzie guide. Written in tongue-in-cheek conform and filled with lots of luscious tidbits about any film it discusses, this is a good read. The begetter of a Raspberry Awards IRazzies) given to a misfortune cinema of a year, during around a same time as a Oscars, got his start in 1980. Although not all Razzie Award nominees are lonesome here, for that matter not even all a winners are represented, Wilson does a good pursuit with a ones he does cover.
He even goes behind into Razzie pre-history, digging adult such smashing gems as 1977's mondo fear fun "The Car", and several exploitation films from a drive-in stage of a 1950's, "Glen or Glenda?", High School Confidential", etc. And Ed Wood, that maven of bad cinema is represented here on some-more than one arise (although "Plan 9 From Outer Space" is missing...too easy a target?)
There are even a integrate of Oscar winners that get a Razzie treatment. Ubiquitous Easter movie, "The Ten Commandments" is torched, and deservedly so. Not since of it's message, a usually that some of a impression actors and actresses in that film are usually plain ridiculous. (Why does Edward G. robinson play any impression a same approach in any movie?)
To my shame, we saw some of these cinema when they initial came out, creatively meditative they were good movies, though to my credit we was immature and naive. we have seen "Xanadu" and "The Jazz Singer" in new years and wondered "What a heck was we thinking?" we intend to see some-more than a few of a cinema in this book now usually for a laughs.
All-in-all a really good read. Besides any book that manages to discuss a biggest drive-in film censor of all time, Joe Bob Briggs, deserves a look. Anybody with that kind of ambience gets my vote.

Funny, Informative and a Juicy Read

As a prolonged time fan of The RAZZIE Awards, we looked brazen to this book finally entrance out -- And we was NOT disappointed. Along with a approaching titles like VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, SHOWGIRLS and MOMMIE DEAREST, a author includes many not-so-well-known bad films that have as nonetheless not gotten their they're-so-bad-they're-good due, including William Shatner as mutt twins(!) in a Spanish "Western" called WHITE COMANCHE and an oddity 1934 exploitation cheapie entitled MANIAC. And a photos from RAZZIE ceremonies past (who knew they indeed did a SHOW any year?) are also pricelessly amusing. In all, all we approaching -- and BERRY most more! I'm usually contemptible it wasn't printed in time for me to give as a holiday present to all my Bad Movie Lover friends!
